Rangeland NRI CASI Information/Download

The Rangeland Field Computer Assisted Survey Instrument (CASI) is designed for NRCS Common Computing Environment (CCE) workstations running the Microsoft Windows XP operating system.  The CASI will operate on both the Desktop PC and the Recon Pocket PC.  The CASI should also run on non-CCE compliant computers running the Window 2000 or XP Operating Systems with Internet connectivity.  The PC version of the CASI supports the following three functions:

·         Install Range CASI to the Pocket PC

·         NRI 2005 Range CASI (Desktop)

·         Range CASI Communications (Pocket PC)

The Rangeland CASI and documentation are available for download (see below).  The Rangeland CASI requires the .Net Framework to be installed on the PC.  The latest version of the XP workstation (Update 1) includes version 1.1 of the .Net Framework.  Therefore, all current CCE XP platforms should have (or be able to load from the “Update 1 system upgrade”) the .Net framework.   This will need to be done by the System Administrator.

Computer not covered under the CCE umbrella can download Dot.Net Framework at no cost via regular Microsoft download sites.  Check the QuickStart Guide for more information.

A supplement to the Handbook of Instructions is available for download along with a number of short videos.

Power Point Presentation on Appendix A (5MB) No video files- Updated May 19, 2005

Appendix A power point with video files  (135MB) Updated May 19, 2005.  This file is zipped.  Extract the power point file and *.avi (video) files to a common directory.  The first time you run the power point file you will need to associate the correct video file with the correct power point slide.  This is done by clicking on the image of the video file in the power point slide.  Power point will ask where the video file is located.  Browse to that location and select the file name/slide number that corresponds to the power point slide.  This should be a one time process, although if you move the power point to another directory you will probably have to connect these again.
